3 Tips To Stop Losing Your Car Keys

Posted on: 27 December 2016

If you are always losing your car keys, you might find yourself in some pretty stressful and harried situations because of it. Not knowing where your keys are when you are in a hurry to go somewhere can be rather panic-inducing, and if you do actually lose your keys, it can cost money to have them replaced. Luckily, these tips can help you stop losing your car keys.

1. Keep Them in One Designated Place

One reason why a lot of people lose their keys is because they set them down just anywhere when they walk into the house. Then, it can be tough to remember where you put them after you have gotten settled in. One good way to prevent this is by choosing one designated spot for your keys and getting into the habit of putting them in this spot every day. Just choose a spot that is convenient for you — a hook in the kitchen or on the table by the door, for example — and start putting your keys there each and every day. In time, it'll become a habit to put your keys there automatically...and to look in that spot when you don't have your keys in your hand.

2. Invest in a Key Finder

There are actually devices out there that are designed to help you keep track of your keys. Some of them are quite simple, such as the ones that involve a key chain that you attach to your keys and a button that you press on the receiver to make a loud alarm sound that will help you find your key chain. Others are more complex, such as the ones that operate through an app on your phone. Either way, using a key finder can be a good way to make finding your keys easy.

3. Keep a Spare

Having a spare key in a specified spot — such as in a magnetized holder underneath your car's wheel bed or tucked in a slot in your wallet -- can be a lifesaver if you do find yourself without your keys. Pro tip: use a locksmith to get a second key made rather than going to the dealership, where it can be more expensive.

Losing your keys can be a bad, annoying habit. Luckily, following these tips can help you avoid getting in a bad situation because of a set of missing keys.

Improving The Safety Of My Home

When I got married and started my family, I knew that I had to do something to keep them safe. Instead of hoping for the best, I decided to bolster my home security by adding different locks around the house. I doubled the locks on the front doors and then I worked on reinforcing the exterior doors to make them stronger. It was a lot of work, but we were able to completely reinforce our home, which I felt great about. This blog is here to help anyone who might be concerned about improving the safety of their place this weekend or any time.
